***Just watched the version 3.2’s livestream. I think I can expect a lot from this upcoming version and I’m getting excited. Too bad that this version will be released just few days before my holiday, so I’m going to have a late start… At least I’m glad they’re going to give us so much bonus, because I’m totally broke after Mydei and Huohuo…***
Chapter 54 The second awakening
It was just before noon, three days after the first time he woke up, that Louis woke up for the second time.
Looking up at the familiar ceiling with slightly open eyes, just like the last time, Louis remembered how he had fallen asleep again the previous time.
Last time, he had heard the maids make a fuss as they had noticed Louis had woken up.
“Oh, it looks like you’re awake.”
But this time, it was a familiar, gentle voice that he heard.
Louis tried to turn to face the voice that had come from beside him, but was troubled by the fact that his body was too sluggish.
Perhaps realizing that he was trying to sit up, a hand reached into his back to support him.
“Claire, Iris…”
After struggling to sit up, he turned to face the two of his party members.
“Sorry, I guess I worried you.”
“You really did.”
“I’m really glad you woke up…”
When Louis apologised to the girls who were looking at him with concern, the two of them showed a look of relief.
Just that alone made him realize that he had worried them a lot.
Louis was a little disheartened that he had caused them trouble again, and asked them with a solemn look on his face.
“…How long has it been since then?”
“About a month, I guess.”
“A month, huh…”
It felt like he had been asleep for an extremely long time.
So when he was told that he had been asleep for a month, he wasn’t surprised, but it was still a big shock.
During the month that he had been down, the Oriental people had lost their effective means of dealing with the demons and were at a disadvantage.
With that thought, I couldn’t just sit still…
“! Louis-sama…!”
“Louis! Don’t move!”
Louis tried to get off the bed, but Claire and Iris stopped him.
“Ha, ha–“
His body couldn’t keep up with even the slightest movement.
Even if the two hadn’t stopped him, he probably wouldn’t have been able to move properly. That’s how Louis thought, Louis’ body had been asleep for a month, and it had become much weaker than it had been in his memory.
“Don’t rush. If you force yourself to move now, you’ll damage your body.”
“That’s right, Louis. Let’s heal slowly. Fortunately, the Demon King’s army has stopped advancing recently.”
Claire and Iris rubbed Louis’ back as he clenched his fists.
“Where are we?”
“The Arzen mansion.”
“… Have we returned to the previous town?”
Louis, who had regained his composure, asked, and Claire answered.
Louis asks how they got this far, even though it’s a little late, and listens to the story after the battle.
“Do you think you can eat?”
“…Yeah.”
What Louis remembers is the backs of the demons fleeing.
His memory seems to be correct, and Louis listens to the story of how Claire and the others carried him back to the town after the battle, but the story is interrupted when a maid brings him a snack.
The maid brings soft bread that is easy for sick people to eat, and warm soup with finely chopped ingredients.
Feeling hungry, Louis eats little by little with the help of Claire and Iris.
“You seem to be getting sleepy.”
“Ah, yeah… sorry.”
“What are you apologizing for? It can’t be helped.”
Once Louis finish eating something that is easy for the stomach to digest, sleepiness comes over him immediately.
Louis feels pathetic about his weakened body, but Claire laughs at him.
“Then, Louis-sama.”
His body was supported by Iris.
When he lay on his back, sleepiness came over him immediately.
“Good night.”
“Good night.”
Hearing the two gentle voices, Louis closed his eyes to the darkness.
